Q: Please tell us a little bit about your family.
I come from a family of seven kids. My father played major league baseball for ten years and ran a working cattle operation after retiring from baseball. My mother supported him every step of the way and poured herself into all of us kids. We all grew up in Montana but now I get to call beautiful Cental Oregon home.
Q: Please tell us about your current career. What do you love most about what you do?
I currently run a window coverings company that I have owned for more than five years. It’s been an awesome business. What I enjoy the most about it is meeting new people, creating new relationships, as well as the flexibly and time freedom to be able to enjoy living in one of the greatest places in the world!
Q: What are a couple of your favorite restaurants in our community?
10 Barrel Brewing Co is a standout. Best pizza in town. Hands down. Great brews as well. Pine Tavern has an untouchable burger! Sunriver Brewing Co is phenomenal as well.
Q: How long have you lived or worked in our community?
I have lived in Central Oregon since early December of 2014 and got my business license by the end of that same month!
Q: Who is the most interesting person you’ve met here in our community?
Micah Frazier. Micah typifies the savvy and progressive minds that saturate Bend. He is a successful real estate photographer, day trader, auto flipper, nutrition coach, real estate broker, and he used to run a flooring company. He has even developed and successfully marketed his own colon cleanse!
Q: If you could travel anywhere in the world right now, where would it be and why?
I would travel to Argentina to fly fish for monster rainbow trout. Having been to New Zealand on multiple similar pursuits, I have the urge to get abroad and wet a line where the people are few, the fish are huge, and the landscapes are stunning.
Q: What advice would you give to people?
Make an impact on the world. Encourage and make a difference in the lives of those around you. You can’t take your wealth and material possessions with you when you go; leave a legacy that will positively impact folks long after you are gone.
Q: What is your go to band when you can’t decide what to listen to?
George Strait. Genuine, authentic, and classic.
Q: If you could choose anyone that is alive today and not a relative; with whom would you love to have lunch? Why? And where locally would y’all meet for this lunch?
I would meet with ex MLB player Daryle Strawberry. He was one of the best MLB players of his generation. At the height of his glory he got into drugs and seediness that took him down. Way down. However, he made a full recovery, got cleaned up, is happily married, and now a motivational speaker. I would ask him what its like to have all of the material possessions in this world (fame, wealth, women, security, etc.) and to still be not truly happy. I would ask him what was missing. I would ask him how he could manage to free fall from grace into hardcore drugs, public scorn and humiliation, and get back on his feet again. How was he able to do that? We’d meet at McCay Cottage in Bend!
Q: What is your favorite thing or something unique about our community?
The creative, healthy, and vibrant community. People are driven here: they’re driven in their work and driven in their health and wellness. They’re even driven in their pursuit of recreation. Apathy does not exist here. Folks are passionate about life and they live it to the fullest!
Q: What is the most beautiful place you have ever been?
Jackson Hole, Wyoming. The jagged Teton Mountain Range, the shimmering Snake River and its accompanying lush valley, and the abundant wildlife make for an incredible haven like no other I’ve ever experienced.
Q: Favorite month? favorite holiday? and best single day on the calendar?
September. Christmas. September 1st.
Q: What would you rate a 10 out of 10?
A ten is complete perfection. It’s the ideal in each scenario. It’s unbeatable and rarely truly attained.
Q: Who inspires you to be better?
My father and my close friends. Whatever your hand finds to do, do with all your might. Go for it. Take the plunge. Don’t hold anything back.
Q: What is one or two of your favorite smells?
Fresh cut hay and aspen trees.
Q: Finally, what 3 words or phrases come to mind when you think of the word HOME?
Love. Laughter. Peace.
