Meet Kevin. I’m Kevin Hallmeyer D.C. I’m an upper cervical chiropractor specializing in the NUCCA technique, and the owner of True Spine Chiropractic in Northwest Crossing. I’m originally from Sacramento, CA. Some of my passions outside of chiropractic are downhill skiing, hiking, cycling, camping and learning as much about health and wellness as possible. I’m a nerd at heart and a lifelong learner. There isn’t a day that goes by that I don’t learn something new about the human body that blows my mind. Even though I take my job very seriously, I like to laugh and find humor wherever possible.
Q: Please tell us a little bit about your family.
My wife Esther and I have a three-year-old son, a baby girl on the way, two dogs and a cat. We have our hands full! We enjoy getting out into nature as a family and going for walks. Some of our favorite spots are Shevlin Park and Smith Rock State Park.
Q: Please tell us about your current career. What do you love most about what you do?
I love giving people hope. Oftentimes people end up in my office after trying a host of different approaches to feel better. I don’t have a cure-all, but seeing people get their lives back is incredibly rewarding.
Q: What are a couple of your favorite restaurants in our community?
We love Spork. Bos Taurus for special occasions. Five Fusion Sushi is also delicious. And Crux and Bend Brewing for hanging out and enjoying great beer.
Q: How long have you lived or worked in our community?
We’ve lived in Bend for two years.
Q: Who is the most interesting person you’ve met here in our community?
I think some of the most interesting people I’ve met are my patients. I would just say that the people in Bend are incredibly authentic, welcoming and have a thirst for getting out into nature and enjoying all that the community has to offer.
Q: If you could travel anywhere in the world right now, where would it be and why?
We’d love to visit Croatia. Hawaii would be nice too!
Q: What is one of your favorite movies? TV shows?
One of my favorite movies of all time is Forrest Gump. We also just watched Schitt’s Creek and found it very enjoyable.
Q: What advice would you give to people?
Appreciate yourself for all that you are.
Q: What is something on your bucket list?
Helicopter skiing in Alaska.
Q: What is your go to band when you cant decide what to listen to?
Mumford & Sons.
Q: What current or former local business makes you the most nostalgic about our community?
Crux was the first brewery we visited when we were exploring Bend and trying to decide if we wanted to move here. We fell in love with the family-friendly atmosphere and great beer. Being there reminds me of what a good decision we made in choosing this community as our home.
Q: If you could choose anyone that is alive today and not a relative; with whom would you love to have lunch? Why? And where locally would y’all meet for this lunch?
Probably Elon Musk; his desire to constantly be learning and pushing the boundaries of human potential is inspiring. I’d want to get sandwiches from Planker downtown and go for a walk to make sure I could listen as much as possible.
Q: What is your favorite thing or something unique about our community?
No matter where you are, you feel welcomed and at home. People say hello, and smile, and genuinely mean it.
Q: Where do you see yourself in 5 to 10 years?
I’d like to continue growing awareness of NUCCA in the community, and bring on an associate doctor to help even more people.
Q: (Even for friends or family), what is something interesting that most people don’t know about you?
Most people don’t know that I gave up a cushy Fortune 500 sales position to travel with nothing but a backpack. This experience is what led me on my journey to becoming a chiropractor and helping people.
Q: What is the most beautiful place you have ever been?
It’s a toss-up: Bora Bora and Gstaad, Switzerland.
Q: Favorite month? favorite holiday? and best single day on the calendar?
July 4th has always been my favorite holiday because our family has a long history of celebrating it together.
Q: What would you rate a 10 out of 10?
Skiing fresh tracks and champagne powder on a bluebird day in the mountains.
Q: Who inspires you to be better?
My wife inspires me to be the best husband, father and chiropractor that I can be.
Q: What is one or two of your favorite smells?
¬Fresh cut wood—there’s nothing like it. And an ice cream parlor—the smell of a fresh waffle cone.
Q: Finally, what 3 words or phrases come to mind when you think of the word HOME?
Family. Joy. Love.
