Tyler Fix

Meet Tyler. I am Tyler, although I am commonly called Dr. Fix throughout my days! I’ve served as a dentist in Bend for almost three years now (hailing from Arizona), and I enjoy balancing my professional life with my enthusiasm for tennis, skiing, hiking, running, restaurants, friendships, and family. I love to be involved with those around me and expand my spheres; I currently serve in leadership positions with multiple organizations and councils. Whether you are looking for someone to fix your tooth or someone to just share a local beer with, it would be my pleasure to connect with anyone in this community.

Q: Please tell us about your current career. What do you love most about what you do?
As a dentist, I love caring for PEOPLE. I think that the difference between “people” and “patients” can be lost along the way at times. I try to see, hear, treat, and engage with the PERSON that is in my chair. Trust, rapport, and relationships matter to me, and I consider it an immense privilege to connect with this Bend community.

Q: What are a couple of your favorite restaurants in our community?
Ariana, Bos Taurus, The Lemon Tree, Zydeco, Wild Rose Thai, Trattoria Sbandati

Q: How long have you lived or worked in our community?
I have been a Bend resident for close to 3 years now

Q: What advice would you give to people?
I have carried this mantra with me forever: “The purpose of life is to be defeated by greater and greater things.” Growth, change, and achievement all come with discomfort and failure at some point, and I would encourage everyone to embrace that.

Q: What is something on your bucket list?
Attend all four tennis Grand Slams: I have been to The US Open a few times, however I need to still get to Wimbledon, Roland Garros, and The Australian Open.

Q: What is your go to band when you cant decide what to listen to?
Coldplay, specifically “Fix You”: it has been and always will be my favorite song, ever.

Q: What current or former local business makes you the most nostalgic about our community?
Ariana Restaurant. Everything about their business embodies the community aura of Bend: the ownership, the philosophy, the craftsman home setting, the warmth of the service, the quality and comfort of the food.

Q: What is your favorite thing or something unique about our community?
I love the community’s shared passion for the outdoors. It has made an incredible impression on me, and I am a better citizen and human because of the culture of this town.

Q: What would you rate a 10 out of 10?
A crisp, cold beer after hiking or skiing.

Q: Who inspires you to be better?
My parents, siblings, and extended family: they have always taught me what love and service looks and feels like, and I try to embody that every day.

Q: What is one or two of your favorite smells?
Fresh Coffee (even though I am a decaf guy!) and Forest Air (nothing better than the clean, crisp outdoors!)

Q: Finally, what 3 words or phrases come to mind when you think of the word HOME?
Community, Support, Camaraderie
